The top 4!

Alright.. this (the idea of having pictures of abs beside each other) turned out a little more trashy than I thought it would be... but i guess i still owe everyone a picture. Haha..

These photos have not been digitally enhanced, except for the fact that faces are cropped out to keep this competition objective and to prevent it from becoming a popularity contest.

As promised, here are the top 4 from my show!

Delayed post...

Yep.. i think i owe you guys a post for the longest time.
Over the past 2 weeks, we have had our final contestant in P6P coming in, Joshua Yao!

Stay tuned to see the post of abs!

And just last week, we had passionate fans from Man Utd and Arsenal in the studio to square off and boast about their teams.

Thanks to Haoyi, Daryl, Simmer, and Ibrahim for coming down! It was great having you guys in the studio. haha... None of us got the predictions correct for the score (hah, passionate fans dont go for draws i see), but if there is anyone who is psychic, it has gotta be my in-house pundit, Yi Hui!

Yi Hui has won our 3 man fantasy premier league competition for 3 weeks in a row! He has been absolutely spot on with his predictions and i believe that on the average, his players has scored at about 6-7 points each week. Absolutely amazing.

Click here to find out how you can prevent him from completing his 4-bagger this week!

Hard hitting action in Play On!

Click here for rules of 3-man Fantasy Football Team rules
Last week, we had the warriors from SMU Muay Thai join me in the Studio! Alex and Sok Yim!

Man, these guys are cool... I have always wanted to join Muay Thai.

Don't ask me why Seok Imm looks so happy throwing a punch tho... maybe they call her the "smiling assasin"?

Word has it that SMU might be hosting the IUG for Muay Thai and it will be held at the T-junction (the public space between OCBC and NTUC Clinic). Now wouldn't that be great! I'm crossing my fingers to see it happen. =)

Anyway, my guest Alex belongs to the group of people that do not watch what they eat and still have a ripped midsection. However, he works hard for it. He combines ab work and upper body work into supersets. Of course in addition to that, he has his muay thai training which requires a lot of core.

I would say Alex stands a pretty good chance of winning P6P, but in any case, check out this blog again in week 11 where i will post up all the photos of the abs and you will get to vote. =)

The Campus Radio Studio just got more gorgeous ;)

Click here for rules of 3-man Fantasy Football Team rules
The title says it all. If you guys have caught this week's episode of Hey Gorgeous on TV, you would have probably seen this...

shouldn't it read "This week's..." instead of "This week..."?

And guess where they were? At the very place where Jin Rui was spotted!

don't ask me why Jia Hui looks petrified/confused. Maybe the new goatee-less Jin Rui look that the producers asked for takes some time to get used to

And why were they on a sports show? Well if you guy's didn't know, Jia Hui was from track and field, and laaadies, you can always spot Jin Rui at Siloso Beach every Saturday.

I shan't say more... just to get you guys to tune in... haha...

Week 4: Jackson Tan SIA CHONG!

Can you hear that famous tune of 我飞的最高最远* in the background? I did! Cos our guest for Week 4 is Jackson Tan who happens to be in the Star Search 2007! Psst... he is M8 in the competition.

* roughly translates to "I fly the furthest and the highest"

Yep and this week I have got one of our ex-deejay Chloe on the show!

Jackson is also an avid triathlete which he admits that training under the sun has been cut because the producer does not want him to get too dark for TV!

He confesses to be a chocolate lover too, but believes that the trick is to not totally stash it out from your diet, but to have a little bit here and there (subjective of course) so that you wont go on a binge should you ever be presented a 24 pc Ferrero Roche tray.

When asked what he would trade his 6 packs for, our poor contestant hopes for good health in return because he has recently injured his legs and his performance at star search will be in jeopardy!

Yep... i hope that recovers quickly too, cos as I have found out during the show, his talent segment is gonna be one heck of an intersting performance!

P.S if you guys need tickets to his show on the 18th Sept, email me at playon.smube@gmail.com , first come first served!

Week 2 Guest! SMU Rugby Prez is on air!

Despite the population of SMU, it has a respectable number of national athletes and I happen to be lucky enough to get one of em on my show!

Like most of us at SMU, Amos is still trying to ease back into school after his overseas games with the Singapore team and helping SMU clinch the Blacks 10s Bowl Champions spot. As if that's not enough, he has to juggle trainings which occur at least 5 times a week. Well... national rugby player and president of the SMU Rugby, what'd expect?

Onward to the important questions! Questions in bold, rough replies from Amos in italics, (and my thoughts in brackets)

=============================

When did you start having a six pack?

I did not set out specifically to train to get a six pack. However, it helped when I was with the track team in Secondary school where the training was pretty rigourous.

Then what's your diet like?

I take 4-5 meals a day but definitely no supper for me. As an athlete, I have to be very watchful over what I eat.
(Man, he sounds like he's those kind who eats Yong Tau Hu everyday. I decided to ask anyway)
Yeah if you catch me eating in the school kopitiam, i would probably be eating Yong Tau Hu. That's pretty much what's available in school that I can eat.
(Ah... that's the good ol' hard work we all like)

I would trade my six pack for...

An eight pack.
(I had initally suggested that he should trade it for a rugby trophy of his choice. But he said that if he could get the trophy, he would probably have to be fit enough and automatically get a six pack)

=============================

These questions and answers were of course only a small part of the show and heavily translated into my own words. It was awesome to have someone so committed to his sport like Amos on the show. I ain't no rugby expert, but you are bound to have interesting things to find out about and fun stuff to say when someone is so committed.
GO SMU RUGBY!

Gameweek 5 Recommendations Preview

As always, this blog will post up one of our 3 recommendations before the deadline for the gameweek closes. To hear the other 2 recommendations, tune in at http://www.smube.com/!
This week's recommendation includes, Mido!
Boro plays leaky Birmingham this weekend and Sunderland in 2 days time. Sounds like goals to me!

After his performance over the last 2 matches, Mido is definitely going to be the main man in the Boro strikeforce and also might be and indication that he starts performing.

Our Pundits were right!

Well well... for those who have been tuning in to us and hearing our tipsters on Fantasy Football Pundits, you guys must have been pleased. =)

Our recommendation Scharner from Wigan collected a neat eight points with a goal and he only costs 4.6m!

The next gameweek has several potential high scoring games such as Liverpool vs Derby, Everton vs Bolton, Boro vs Birmingham. Who's most likely to score? Why not find out from LN and Yi Hui this week?

Week 1 P6P Guest: Nigel!

Our first guest ever on Play On!, Nigel!

Free Image Hosting at allyoucanupload.com

Even before I met him, I have already heard so much about his physique from Wilson (Dragonboat captain), Chloe and Rebecca (his JC friends). So much so that I was a little apprehensive of getting him on my first show for fear that it might scare off the contestants for the rest of the 9 weeks on Project 6 Pack.

In any case, i tried digging out his secrets. For the full interviews with the guests, you would have to tune in. My blog will show the condensed interview, so Nigel will sound a little rude on this blog.

Were you born with a six pack?
No, actually I weighed 68kg and stood at 1.5m when I was in Secondary 3.
(great, seems like we are off to a good start. Awesome story of someone who works really hard for his abs to follow i hope)

Then what motivated you to become what you are today?
Having mean friends help, so i decided to prove them wrong.
(Holy abs! I'm gonna get myself a group of mean friends too!)

So what did you do back then? What's your secret? Did you do any sports?
I just started out with some pushups and crunches
(okay, sounds good, there's always a starting point for everything)
And then after that i started to hit the gym. And I didn't do any sports.
(at this point in time, i was a bit shocked already. Cos he made it sound so easy)

Alright, what about your diet?
I eat lots of ice-cream, really... all the time.
(i think i was really too shocked to probe further cos somewhere in my mind, i was trying to make sense of it all. Sorry guys, i know i should have asked more about his workout. But my mind has already started thinking about a pretty warped heory that if you keep taking fats, your body will not store... i digress)

Complete this sentence, "I would trade my 6 packs for..."
A perfect GPA of 4.0
(holy smokes! It's only week one and he is thinking of such stuff already! I advise all old smu students to steer clear from the freshies and the classes that they take. You would be owned! Actually, if i had a 6 pack and it could be traded for a perfect GPA, i might... =P)

So... sorry guys, couldnt get much info this first week, BUT! next week, i promise an even better show!

*grumbles* i still feel that Nigel is hiding some secrets from us...

Btw, to keep this competition absolutely fair and objective, pictures and voting system will only be released in week 10. Watch for it then!

Gameweek 4 recommendation preview

Our in-house pundits choooose....

Steven Taylor!!! (Newcastle)
Newcastle’s next three fixtures are boro, wigan and derby. If you are looking for clean sheets, Newcastle is a good bet. He is now valued at 5.0
To find out the rest of the recommendations for the gameweek, tune in to SMU Campus Radio on Friday 5-6pm!

Greetings!

Hi There!

Welcome to Play On! the sports and fitness show on SMU Campus Radio!

It really is the first time the SMU Campus Radio have something so closely linked to sports and fitness and it really has been my pleasure to be able to deejay for such a show.

Alright less talk, here's what's gonna happen on my show every Friday, 5-6pm.

Project 6 Pack

Every week, i will invite a guest with the 6 pack on my show to share his secrets to getting that elusive midsection. His diet, his exercises and his mantras for training will all be dug out so that you and I can get a 6 pack.

At the end of 10 weeks, the Project 6 Pack competition will be launched. To keep things strictly objective and that it does not turn into a popularity contest, i will post up pictures of ONLY the midsection of my guests at random (no faces) and then you will vote for your favourite abs. Simple?

Got someone with a set of washboards to recommend? Email me at playon.smube@gmail.com now!

Fantasy Football Pundits

For the soccer crazy who spends hours on fantasy football, don't fret, our in house pundits will give you some recommendations! Every week, they will recommend 3 players across the entire price range based on their form, their projected fixtures, a whole dose of knowledge on the undestanding of EPL and a pinch of gut feel.

Check out the blog every thursdays for one recommendation and tune into the show for the other 2 players recommended!

Well then seeya guys and hear me, Terence on Play On!
